I heard a Cooper's Hawk screeching one day, not long ago, and went to investigate. I finally spotted the hawk up in a nearby Hemlock but couldn't see what the problem was, why it was carrying on so. I climbed down to the base of the tree and looked up to get a better view and did find the hawk but then noticed, about halfway between us, a dark pair of eyes peering down at me as if to say, "Who, me? I didn't do anything!" The hawk finally flew off to another, more suitable tree. I really enjoyed creating the lovely lights and darks in this piece and the Barred Owl was a wonderful challenge of fluff and feathers.
