The only gull nesting along most of the Pacific Coast from Washington to Baja, this large species is common in all seasons. Fed by both parents, the young may leave the nest when a few days old to hide in nearby vegetation and become capable of flight about 6-7 weeks after hatching..I felt inspired to show how vulnerable these little ones are until they're able to function on their own. We see these Seagulls frequently here on the west coast and it's easy to take them for granted but I like to take a closer look, to encourage my viewers to do the same, to appreciate a species before it's endangered.
