Au Printemps de Soi is a self-portrait in soft pastel inspired by the beauty of giving, but also by the importance of being able to receive. I've always felt more at ease being in the rôle of the giver, the one that helps and listen. I always had difficulty accepting help, welcoming compliments, being seen. I painted this self-portrait as an ode to self-love and self-worth. To me, this painting presents a confident yet humble woman. Surrounded by vast beauty, she is offering us something, but the position of her hands could very well mean that she is also ready to accept all the love the world has to offer.
