Crowned

Portraying Boris on this painting was about finding the most personal and accurate way to genuinely convey the vibrancy and the playfulness that inhabit him.

I used to think I was drawing in an effort to understand the people and the world around me. I have come to realize that all there is to learn and understand in each painting are things about myself, more than the subject itself. Drawing becomes a sort of introspection. This painting brought me a little bit closer to how I want to paint, but most of all, it took me closer to who I want to be.
