This 2021 pastel is based on my own photo taken two blocks from my home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I have taken many photos of this little lake which changes almost monthly. This time I was fascinated with the almost blackness of the water. I used cream Luxe Archival sanded paper and first tinted it with Art Spectrum Colour Fix original primer in Terracotta. I used Pan pastel to block in my darks and lights and then finished with soft pastels and a few pastel pencils for fine lines.
