This is pastel of various sorts, especially pencils for the underpainting and then Girault, Great American, Blue Earth, Jack Richeson on LaCarte. This is a quiet moment in time, from a photo I took of my husband, the light was shining on him through the windows and while the look of age is clearly a part of this piece, so is the sense of his broad shoulders, still there, still strong.
