EPIPHANIA - the kiss of the muses
The idea for this picture arose within seconds in front of my inner eye. Like an inspiration.
The way to it however led over mental trying around, sketching, rejecting and a long row of pictures, which had to develop as steps to this picture.
The "series of experiments" came from two directions. On the one hand my still lifes, whose reference photos are taken in the style of "dark food photography" and on the other hand my flower and blossom images.
The beauty of nature has always fascinated me and I always had the feeling that nothing could be added to it except the way of representation, which adds a feeling to the sheer beauty and a story to the picture. From this feeling the flower and blossom pictures were born.
On the other hand, there was my affinity for food. Food as part of nature. Prepared food as part of the cultural history and imprinting landscape of the people who live in it. Food as still life, as aesthetic form. My "foodpatterns" come from this direction.
I have never been able to decide whether I prefer to tell stories with my pictures or simply dedicate myself to aesthetics. And it was never clear to me whether these two points of view complement or oppose each other.
All this was swirling around in my head and at the same time I was having a conversation with an artist friend. Triggered by something in the conversation, in a split second the picture in my mind came together.
This picture has no history (at most a prehistory) and is devoted exclusively to the aesthetics of natural form and color.
This image was created over the period of 6 months and was a joy to create at each of the stages. Many of the fruits I have depicted for the first time in my life in pastel and so this picture is also an expansion of my horizons in the technical sense.
