Medium: soft pastel. Process: underpainting on UART paper that is mounted to archival mat board. Inspiration: Snow-capped Mount Shasta in winter with a dusting of snow on the rolling hills and flat lands north-west of the mountain. The small group of cattle had separated from the main herd and were grazing on the small patches of visible grass. Although the sunlight was very bright, the shadows were soft: very different than summertime. I believe that this high key painting best depicts the feeling of the morning.
